Wednesday 17th September – The First Club!!!

Published by Mr Fieldhouse at 7:53 pm under Fencing Club

Hello everyone and welcome to the Lidgetgreen Fencing Club Blog.

Our first club meet was a lot of fun with people learning how to salute, to take the en guarde position and to deliver a cut one. Everyone did very well and I hope they are looking forward to the next club which is on Wednesday 1st of October.

Below are the things that the children learnt in the first week, so you can see what they did. All the pictures below are from a book called “Cold Steel” which was written by a Captain Alfred Hutton in 1889, a very long time ago!

This is how you hold a sabre.

This is the en garde position.

A cut one is from the top right of your opponent to the bottom left.

I will post every week after the club to show you what we have done and maybe give a few cool sneak peaks of other cool stuff we shall be doing in fencing.
